The CASCADE CHORALE is a one credit class at COCC to foster and grow music in our Central Oregon community.
REHEARSALS PAUSED STARTING JAN 25th
It is so amazing to have all of you joining us to make music together! I look forward to many evenings of sharing with you. First, we need to make a bit of an adjustment to our rehearsal schedule due to surging numbers locally and the fact that Deschutes County is leading the state for infections. We all want to take care of everyone, right?
We will be pausing Chorale rehearsals until February 3rd. During this pause, Jim will be getting out practice aids for the individual voice parts for Limericks so we can all practice (and we’ll all be note perfect, right?) and be ready to reconvene on the 3rd. But the 3rd is a Thursday, you say? Yup! for the rest of the term, we will be practicing both Tuesday and Thursday (same time, 7:00 PM) in PINCKNEY!! We will have lots of space to spread out and make wonderful music. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Pinckney, it is at the other end of the hall from Pence 228 where we normally meet.
Please check back periodically in case of updates – you may need to clear your cache to see the new info.
COCC currently REQUIRES face masks* on-campus for in-person classes, but we don’t care because we are so stoked to be singing together!
Any returning singers under the age of 65 can register on-line at cocc.edu NOW using your Bobcat account.
65+ singers just need to bring a check – no form necessary unless you’ve never filled out a 65+ waiver form before this term.
Have you never sung with the Chorale before? Contact our director, Jim Knox at email@example.com for a brief meet and greet.
The Cascade Chorale will be meeting as normal on Tuesdays through the Winter Term. We can take registrations in person before rehearsal on January 4th and 11th. Beyond that time, singers will have to register with COCC administration and pay any applicable late fees.
In-person registration and music checkout begins at 6:30 in Pence 228 (click here for the campus map) and please bring:
- your COCC student ID
- your checkbook (no cash, please)
- a black 3-ring binder
- a pencil (no pen or markers in music PLEASE!)
- your refillable water bottle (please avoid noisy, crinkly, disposable plastic), which you can refill at the bottle filling station in Pence Hall near Pinckney.
- your face mask*
At this time, the class sizes provided by COCC for ensembles are limited by the size of the room. As a result, we may change our rehearsal space depending on the number of people signing up.
Masks/face coverings are required regardless of vaccination status. The college does not have any vaccination requirement for attendance at this time.
*Recommended Face Masks (from COCC’s face mask policy)
A recommended “mask” for use in preventing the spread of COVID-19 is defined by the CDC as having two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric; completely covering your nose and mouth; fitting snugly against the sides of your face without gaps; and having a nose wire to prevent air from leaking out of the top of the mask. The College also recommends an FDA-cleared surgical mask (fluid-resistant, disposable, and loose-fitting).
The CDC does not recommend gaiters, plastic shields, or masks with exhalation valves or vents as a substitute for other kinds of recommended masks. The College does not endorse bandanas as a substitute for other types of recommended masks.
